About

Who
Hi, there. I'm Renee. I'm a 20-something woman who loves books (especially children's books!), writing, thrift stores, travel, swimming, good food, and of course, my wonderful friends and family.

What
Neon Dreamer is a blog for those moments when I need a place to share. I will write about whatever suits my fancy. I also have another blog dedicated to youth literature. It's called Harry, Lucy, Laura & Me, and you should check it out!

When
I started this blog in the summer of 2013

Where
I currently live in my childhood hometown of St. Paul, MN. I went to college in Pittsburgh, PA and spent five incredible months living in Buenos Aires, Argentina, so chances are I'll write about those cities as well.

Why
I have often wondered what the real purpose of a blog like this would be. I remember when my mom took a training on Twitter and afterwards she told me, "I just don't get it. Why am I supposed to care what somebody had for breakfast? Why would anyone else care about me missing the bus?" The idea of sharing mundane details with the world completely baffled her. Of course, I explained some other, more professionally useful ways to run a Twitter account, but I also agreed with her. I think the same issue applies to blogging. I am just a normal person with a normal life, and why would anyone want to read a blog about it?
But then I thought, who cares? Who cares if no one ever reads a single word on Neon Dreamer? This is something I want to try, that I think I will enjoy and, while I hope people will read it and enjoy it, I am not going to worry about that.
So... Why keep this blog?
Why not?

Just in case you're curious, I chose the title Neon Dreamer for this blog because it's an anagram of my name. I wish I could say I have especially vivid dreams, but that would be a lie.
